B.S. Architectural Engineering

Graduating Class of 2020

Nicole is currently a senior at the University of Texas at Austin. Through her Architectural Engineering degree, she is gaining a breadth of  knowledge about buildings from topics such as structural analysis, climate engineering (MEP and energy systems), geotechnical engineering, behavior of engineering materials (specifically steel and structural wood in Fall 2019), project management, environmentalism, and design and architectural theory.

Outside of her formal studies, she has a great interest in understanding the built environment and buildings from a holistic perspective. In any activity she does, she seeks to gain a new angle on buildings and cities - such as an internship at the Texas Capitol to learn about urban legislation (2017) or taking a Roman history class (2017) to learn about city life during The Republic of Rome. One of her most favorite reads is "The City in History" by Lewis Mumford where all of her interests about architecture, engineering, and history are synthesized in this all-compassing manifesto. She also studies film theory and philosophy independently, which influence her thought processes and design.
